Elon Musk’s Model S has a supercharger system for the supercharging stations.
Tesla, which has been on a tear since its debut at the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show, unveiled the first of the stations, the Supercharger Station in September 2017.
“The Superchargers allow customers to charge up in a matter of seconds without leaving the vehicle, and without using up a car’s batteries,” the company said in a statement at the time.
After the Supercharge Station opened, Tesla was already making its way to the mainstream, with Model S cars featuring the station, which was launched in April 2018.

While Tesla hasn’t revealed how many SuperchargER stations it has in the wild, there are currently over 150 stations worldwide, with the majority located in the US, according to the company.
One of the Supercharged stations in the UK has already been taken offline due to the high-voltage system, and there have been reports of other stations around the world being shut down due to high levels of electricity, with some reports saying that the system is so powerful it has cut power to cars, making them incapable of doing what they are designed to do.
It’s not just Tesla, though.
The electric car company also introduced the Model X, a supercharged electric sedan with a range of around 1,000 miles, in 2019.
That same year, Tesla launched its first superchargers in California, which it now runs around 90 percent of the time, with around 50 stations in operation.

The Model X is one of the fastest cars in the world, but the company has had some issues with the superchargable charging infrastructure.
On Tuesday, Tesla released its first full financial report for 2018, with a whopping $1.7 billion in revenue, but it has been struggling to meet demand for its electric cars.
As the US and UK both continue to roll out their own charging infrastructure, Tesla may have to focus on the SuperChargers, instead of trying to keep the prices down for people who can’t afford it.
