Aussie house painter has taken the art of painting the house painting world by storm.
In the words of the artist, you’ll need to be “a real artist, not a painter”.
“I’ve never really wanted to be a house painter, I just wanted to make something that people would actually want to come to,” the 32-year-old told ABC Radio Melbourne’s Live Today.
“I just thought it would be fun to do, to see what the other people would make.”
The challenge is to create something that I feel very proud of, something that the world will see and be proud of.
“The artist said he was inspired by the work of American artist Bob Mapplethorpe, who painted thousands of homes in his lifetime.”
You just need to find the right combination of colours and textures, it just takes a bit of experimentation,” he said.”
But it’s a lot of fun to see.
“The ‘painting master’ and ‘artistic painter’ The artist is not alone in his passion for house paint.
In 2017, a US artist created a mural in the Australian Parliament that featured portraits of former Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, who has been described as the country’s “painting god”.
And this week, the world famous Australian artist Johnathan Byrne was recognised with the inaugural Guggenheim Award, which is awarded to “a talented young Australian artist”.
In an exclusive interview with News.au, Byrne said he is now “on a mission” to create his own paintings.”
My mission is to paint everything, to paint every room in my house,” he told News.TV.”
To paint the whole house.
“The man behind the mural has been living in Melbourne for the past three years, working with his wife and their four children.
The couple have taken to painting their front yard with watercolours and black and white, and their backyard with “blue and white” and “red and white”.”
We have been painting this house since January last year, and it’s been a lot,” Byrne said.
He said he would like to paint a larger number of houses in the future.”
Hopefully I will be painting more homes by the end of the year.
